| Fragmentation of the former broadly circumscribed genus Acacia (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae) necessitates combinations in Senegalia (syn. Acacia subg. Aculeiferum) and Vachellia (syn. former Acacia subg. Acacia) for the following 40 taxa that are recorded for the region encompassed by Southeast Asia and China. | In order to evaluate pollen morphological descriptions of Alchornea in the literature, which are almost completely based on African and American species, the pollen of eight Southeast Asian species of Alchornea was investigated, using light and scanning electron microscopy. Very little variation appeared to be present in the Asian material. Slightly deviating from the scabrate ornamentation type are A. kelungensis (psilate) and A. rugosa (striate-rugulate). The scabrate type is also found in A. castaneaefolia (Brazil), A. hirtella (Liberia) and A. obovata (Colombia). The operculate Alchornea pollen type, which can be easily recognised using light microscopy, seems to represent a diagnostic character for the tribe Alchornieae (pollen of Bossera unknown).... |

| The genus Zehneria Endl. is split into 5 genera, of which 4 are new: Indomelothria, Neoachmandra, Scopella, and Urceodiscus. Apart from several new combinations and taxa of subspecific rank, the following species are described as new: I. chlorocarpa, N. backeri, N. lancifolia, N. macrantha, N. nesophila, N. platysperma, U. arfakensis, U. carrii, U. hippocrepicus, U. parviflora, U. scabridula, U. viridis, Z. elbertii, Z. erythrobacca, Z. immarginata, Z. neocaledonica, Z. pedicellata, Z. pisifera, Z. tahitensis, and Z. trullifolia. The New World genus Melothria was introduced in Asia where it is represented by one species, M. pendula L. |

| The genus Solena Lour. is redefined, and its 3 species and 1 subspecies are keyed out and described: S. amplexicaulis occurs in S India, S. heterophylla, with 2 subspecies is widespread, but does not occur in S India, and S. umbellata (Klein ex Willd.) W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, comb. nov., occurs in S India and Sri Lanka. The status of S. heterophylla subsp. napaulensis (Ser.) W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, comb. & stat. nov. needs further study as this subspecies is very similar to the more widespread subsp. heterophylla, but it is distinct by sigmoid thecae. | The species of Rheumatogonus (Gerridae: Ptilomerinae) from Thailand, Borneo, Mindanao and Sri Lanka are revised. Four new species, collected from northern Borneo and Sri Lanka, are described: R. esakii spec. nov. from Brunei, R. vantoli spec. nov. and R. inusitatus spec. nov., both from Sabah, and R. cheliforus spec. nov. from Sri Lanka. Redescriptions of the genus and the four known species assigned to this paper are provided. A key to species with diagnostic illustrations is presented. The male genital structures are illustrated in detail, as they provide the most reliable specific characters. The pilosity on the connexival segment VI is used for identifying the females. |

| Alangium sect. Rhytidandra is confined to SE Asia, the Pacific and East Australia, and contains 13 species. Five species, viz. Alangium brassii, A. glabrum, A. gracile, A. guadalcanalense, and A. velutinum are described as new, whereas A. villosum subsp. solomonense is raised to specific rank: A. solomonense. Subspecies tomentosum formerly in A. villosum is transferred to another species and has become A. polyosmoides subsp. tomentosum. Finally Iodes ferruginea, described in Icacinaceae appeared to belong in Alangiaceae, and as the name ferruginea was occupied in Alangium it is changed into A. strigosum, nom. nov. A key to the species is presented, and the concerned taxa are enumerated, referenced, described, and two are figured. |

| A brief summary of the present taxonomic position in Agalmyla Blume (Gesneriaceae) is given. Six new species are described, A. bicolor, A. exannulata and A. remotidentata from Sulawesi, A. macrocalyx from Borneo (Sarawak), A. samarica from the Philippines (Samar) and A. manuselae from the Moluccas (Seram). The plant long known as Dichrotrichum ternateum de Vriese is transferred to Agalmyla, under its oldest epithet, as A. elongata (Blume) B.L. Burtt, and two other early names of species from New Guinea are also transferred as A. chalmersii (F. Muell.) B.L. Burtt and A. triflora (Valeton) B.L. Burtt. |

| The tree diversity of sub-montane and lower montane primary forests is studied in plot-based inventories on two sites in Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi. Out of 166 species in total, 50 % are new records for Sulawesi (19 %) or the Central Sulawesi province (31 %). Species richness decreases with altitude. In the submontane forest, the highest Family Importance Values (FIV) are reached by the Lauraceae, Fagaceae, Sapotaceae, Moraceae and Euphorbiaceae. In the lower montane forest, the Fagaceae are of major importance (FIV 71.9), followed at some distance by the Myrtaceae, Elaeocarpaceae and Lauraceae.
